Margaret Montgomery

Margaret Montgomery is NBBJ’s global sustainable practice leader. She leads initiatives and projects with the goal of creating healthy places that reunite people with nature. Employing strategies that range from biophilia and indoor air quality to zero net carbon design, she encourages teams to improve building performance, ecosystem vitality and human experience on each project. She currently chairs AIA’s Energy Leadership Group, leads NBBJ’s 2030 Commitment initiative and her work includes the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation campus and the recently-opened Southeast Louisiana Veterans Healthcare System campus in New Orleans.

Abstract

The presentation systematically introduces the analytical methods of the site environment at the initial design stage to find the favorable and unfavorable conditions, and apply the design strategies to foster the strengths and circumvent the weaknesses. It establishes the foundation for achieving the high-performance and zero net carbon building design.
